Is there a policy for the brand to minimize, reduce or compensate its greenhouse gas emissions?

  • Dutch version: Heeft het merk (bedrijf) enig beleid om de eigen broeikasgas te beperken of te compenseren?
  • German version: Verfolgt der Markenhersteller eine Strategie, um CO2-Emissionen zu minimieren, reduzieren oder kompensieren?


This question is in its basis generic to all sectors we target.

Please note that due to the high percentage of methane emissions (which account for 40-50% of the total dairy greenhouse gas emissions, see also Dairy Climate Change Question 5) in the dairy sector, we ask for greenhouse gas emissions instead of only carbon emissions. Carbon emissions only take CO2 in consideration, while greenhouse gas emissions is an "umbrella term" which takes methane, CO2 and nitrous oxide, etc. in consideration.

However, because methane emissions are hard to measure (http://www.wur.nl/nl/nieuwsagenda/archief/nieuws/2011/Methaanuitstoot.htm), only reporting on CO2 emissions is considered as sufficient enough at the moment.
